Open Doors approaches its work mindful of the fact that on many occasisons interpreters are the only way medical, and/or court staff can communicate with non-English/Deaf speaking people. Moreover, we understand and appreciate the importance of quality interpretation, in particulary for medical and court interpretation, where a misstep can result in misdiagnosis or legal liability.
To minimize these potential problems we provide and require our interpreters to attend in-service training on variety of topics, such as ethics, role/responsibility of interpreters, managing conflict and the importance of consecutive interpreting. Also, the opportunity for observation by an experienced mentor is made available. For these reasons, Open Doors is able to provide quality professioanl interpreting services.
